Dexter began his racing career on go-kart tracks in La Crosse and Westby, Wisconsin, at age 10. He competed in various divisions. Racing go-karts he learned about preparing his kart before each race, doing most of the work himself. He also gained a wealth of experience working on the pit crew for his father's late model, REMAX, and ITEMS cars. In 2003, after turning 16, Dexter took on a tougher challenge and made the transition from go-karts to late model stock cars for his family's BlackJack Racing Team. When Dexter is not racing or preparing his cars, he enjoys numerous other activities. He earned varsity letters in football and baseball. He was named 2003 WIAA All Coulee Conference Honorable Mention Football Receiver. He competed in 2003 Wisconsin State and National Legion Baseball Tournaments and in 2004 was named First Team All Coulee Conference in baseball. In 2004, his final high school year, Dexter was named First Team All Coulee Conference Football Receiver and First Team All Coulee Conference in baseball. He was an active 4-H member, showing beef cattle at the Vernon County and Wisconsin State Fairs. He continues to enjoy hunting, bowling, golfing and skiing with his friends. - Ran 9 of 10 Wisconsin Challenge Series Races-finished 8th in points
- Winner of North American Cup WCS July 2005-Dells Motor Speedway
2003-2004 - Competed in 78 feature races in 8 states while in his final high school year
- Won 2 Feature Races at Dells Motor Speedway (WI)
- Eight days of competition at New Smyrna during SpeedWeeks-finished 14th
- Competed at Bullring in Las Vegas, Slinger Nationals and The Milwaukee Mile
2002-2003 - Rookie season late model division La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway
- Finished in top 20 in point’s standings
- Runner-up for Rookie of the Year
- Finished 3rd in Rockford (IL) National Short Track Championships
2001-2002 - Pit Crew Member for REMAX and ITEMS cars
